Artificial intelligence is a branch of computer science that gets to the bottom of intelligence and produce a new intelligent machine mimicking the human intelligence. The research of artificial intelligence covers a wide range of areas, such as robotics, speech recognition, image identification, natural language processing and expert systems.
Since its birth, artificial intelligence has been applied to more and more fields. The relevant theories and techniques are increasingly mature. We have every reason to believe that the future technological products of artificial intelligence will be a “vessel” of human intelligence, that vividly simulate the information processes of human consciousness and thinking.
Artificial intelligence involves a broad spectrum of subjects, namely, machine learning and computer vision. One of the main objectives of artificial intelligence research is to make machines capable of completing complex tasks, which is now only achievable by human intelligence. However, the meaning of the “complex tasks” may change from era to era and vary between different people. In December 2017, artificial intelligence was recognized as one of the top ten buzzwords of the year in Chinese media.
Recent years has seen in-depth exploration and rapid development of artificial intelligence in technical applications like symbolic computing, pattern recognition, machine translation, machine learning, problem solving, logical reasoning, theorem proving, distributed artificial intelligence, and computing vision. This trend will continue in the foreseeable future, making artificial intelligence a wind vane of science and technology.
